"Trauma and State violence"

La Paz (Bolivia), 27th of May 2004

Dear colleagues and friends,

The conference of the Group section of the EFPP will take place in Lisbon, from 8 - 10 October 2004.

We are very pleased to announce that our working group can count on two contributions, which we think will be very interesting.

The following contributions have been confirmed:

Muriel GILBERT, Dr Psychology, University of Lausanne, Institute of Psychology, will speak about some aspects of an extensive research on the collective traumatism of forced disappearance. The title of her presentation is:

Peoples forced disappearance and State violence
Anthropological and psychoanalytical reflections based on the figure of Antigone

Emma Bravo and André Gautier will present an interdisciplinary investigation based on the collection of 50 testimonies of retired people who marched to La Paz, the political capital of Bolivia, in January 2003 to defend their meagre income and who were brutally repressed by the police and the army during their 100km march. The title of the conference is:

The repression of the march of the retired - Bolivia, January 2003

We hereby attach the abstracts in French and English. For further information consult the web page of the EFPP: www.efpp.org

We hope to meet many of you in Lisbon and share a rich scientific exchange, like in Stockholm. We want to express our most sincere feelings to you, dear colleagues and friends,

André Gautier Anna Sabatini Scalmati
