Letter from the Executive Meeting in Dresden in May 2005-06-28 The one topic, which will be of major interest to many Executive meetings, also in the future, is the PCFP section. The establishing and integration of the 4th section will imply a good deal of changes for the EFPP as an organisation. Some structural changes in particular will have to takeplace. As an example, one can mention are changes in the Constitution and what consequences the 4th section will have for a number of delegates and members of the Executive ommittee. Several solutions have been suggested but none has yet been finally elaborated. At the meeting, the new PCFP work group was represented by Pierre Benghozi. The group is about to be established and will - apart from developing the PCFP section - also organise workshops in connection with EFPP conferences both in Metz, Berlin and Copenhagen. The EFPP Series and our relationship to Karnac is a recurring topic. Our intention to publish book projects from EFPP conferences requires an intense look-out for good papers. There is a book project under way - a group therapy book. A new EFPP logo is being worked out in collaboration with a designer. The integration of the Central European and Eastern European countries in the EFPP has brought about a change in their situation. They have developed their own national networks but are still in need of external supervisors and help with setting up training programmes. It is necessary to accept that these countries have entirely different and specific needs, which are very independent of their former affiliation to the Eastern bloc. As regards Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Romania, they are still associated members in the Adult and the Child/ Adolescent section. The situation in the Adult section following the Delegate meeting in Stockholm was evaluated and it was agreed that one should try to counteract all further polarisation. A broader understanding of the specific conditions in each of the member countries is necessary before a final certificate can be worked out. Finally, I would like to mention that also the concept of "public sector" has been discussed in terms of the different meanings and uses of this concept in the different European countries. It will be necessary to continue work with this issue in connection with the formulation of changes in the Constitution. The next Executive meeting will take place on the 30 th of November – 1 st of December 2005, prior to the Conference in Metz. For the Executive committee |
