Dear colleague, The biannual Syros Summer Workshop on Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Studies, organised by the Hellenic Association of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and under the auspices of EFPP, started back in 1998 by John Tsiantis and Dimitris Anastasopoulos. In 2008 our 6th Syros Summer Workshop is going to celebrate 10 years of living tradition. During this time EFPP and IPA members, coming from all over Europe, have been joining the Workshop in the sunny Greek island of Syros The high quality of presentations in the plenary meetings and the exchange of ideas in the French and English speaking discussion groups, have always been supported by a friendly atmosphere, the same atmosphere that has accompanied us to the seaside and the fish-tavernas. In the 1st Syros Workshop the invited speaker was Margot Waddel (U.K.), in the 2nd Jean Begoin, (France), in the 3rd Gianna Williams, (U.K.), in the 4th Imre Szecsody, (Sweden), in the 5th Roberto Basile (Italy). This year the key-note speaker is Luc Moyson, (Belgium), the current president of the EFPP. The title of his presentation is "Can you tell me a childhood memory? Narcissistic rage in theory and practice". Luc Moyson is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, team coordinator of an in-patient psychoanalytic program for adolescents, trainer and supervisor at the University of Leuven, Flanders, in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and has a private practice. He is a former president of the Flemish association for psychoanalytic psychotherapy and was elected in 2007 as president of the European Federation for psychoanalytic psychotherapy. He is delegate in this federation for Belgium, Flanders. In all the Syros Workshops the main presentation has always been accompanied
by two clinical presentations. This time in the Syros Workshop
the clinical presentations are focusing on child and family work. The second clinical presentation will be on: "A case of violent rupture in adolescence, years later" by Thomas and Elisabeth von Salis. Thomas von Salis from Zürich, Switzerland, is a psychoanalyst,
family, couple and group therapist and child psychiatrist in private practice,
founding members of EFPP Switzerland and presently is president of AGOG
(Arbeitsgruppe Operative Gruppen). The clinical presentations are discussed in relation to the key-note paper but also in their own rights. Both English and French-speaking, small discussion groups, are reporting back to the plenary every day. The productive working mornings are followed by free afternoons for swimming
and walks in the town. In the evening the members explore the different
local versions of the Aegean cuisine. This is perhaps one of the reasons
that most of the Syros Summer Workshop participants come back for the
next event. The programme will be as follows:
For registration use the printable registration form and either
We will start late afternoon on Friday, leaving enough time for the participants to arrive to Syros. The participants have to share the expenses for the invited speaker, some minimal administrative expenses to cover secretarial assistance during the meeting as well as post/ phone/ fax expenses. The costs will be shared among all participants and it is expected to be 180 Euro per person. We hope that these 3 days will be full of exchanging and sharing ideas on scientific issues, in a relaxing atmosphere. At the same time - as we are only going to work half a day, it will be possible to have our holidays on this beautiful island. Let's combine work with pleasure. Please, let us know as soon as possible, if you wish to participate,
by sending back to us the attached registration slip. As the number of
participants is limited (25), we cannot secure a place unless you register
promptly. Yours Sincerely Prof. John Tsiantis (itsianti@med.uoa.gr) Effi Lignos (cel-lignos@otenet.gr) For further information please contact us: |
