EFPP
Third European Conference of Psychoanalytic Group Psychotherapy
The Individual and The Group: Bridging the Gap

Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

The SPG (Portuguese Groupanalytical Society) and the EFPP (The European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy) hopes that your participation in the Third European Conference of Group Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy will be fruitful and worthwhile not only through the quality and openness of the discussion that the topics might offer, but also through the beauty of the city in which the conference is being held - Lisbon
All of us - psychiatrists, psychologists, analytical group psychotherapists know that the group is the nuclear setting in which life develops: in the psychic representation of internalised object relations of our parents, the extended family, the school, our colleagues at work, in institutions, in democratic political organisation.
In all these structures we are aware of the permanent conflicts, some of which are paradoxical and which are a result of the balance between the importance of the individual and the group in which he finds himself. How can we manage these situations which arise in the context of group analytical psychotherapy and which might be elaborated with potential for transformation.
We look forward to your active participation in the various discussion groups of this congress.
City of light, welcoming, rich in history, we look forward to seeing you here, in Lisbon where its beloved river - the Tagus - flows into the sea.
